Lin and I started Seley Corporation 31
years ago. For the bulk of that time, our primary interest was
harvesting timber from the Tongass national Forest and sawing those
logs to lumber. Today much has changed on the timber front. Extreme pressure from environmental groups combined with the inability of the Forest Service to implement change rapidly has resulted in insufficient log supply to sustain milling operations on a continuous basis. Our sawmill on Gravina Island has set idle the entire 2009 season. And now with extra time on my hands, I am determined to learn how to build and maintain a web site. Really, my job is to take pictures and type up a narriative. Our friend Johnny Rice will do the technical work and then try to keep me from fouling it up. Through this site we will keep you informed on the many services that we continue to provide in Southeast Alaska, upcoming projects and the continuing battle for a predictable supply of timber. If you use Twitter you can follow what we're up to by subscribing to our account located here. >> @seleycorp Please send me an e-mail with your comments and suggestions to info@seley.com.
